The old Haunted House predecessor Haunted House Alpha relies on the Table framework. This version does not. It is also designed to be Search Engine friendly.
Design
The template was meant to suit Halloween sites or Ghost Storytelling blogs. The image for the Web Header was originally designed by Arlen Nielsen of FabMedia as a Halloween promotion via HTMemail for his clients, and a matte painting for animation with Motion. It was only extended by AL2Meta of Astral Meta using Photoshop cloning techniques. The rest of the website designs have been conceptualized by AL2Meta.
With additional scary pictures, the template can really look horrifying and downright creepy. The design comes with a built-in Web Header that can be changed by the user in Blogger’s Layout options.
Functionality
Haunted House’s Web Header can be changed in Blogger’s Layout options, and will revert back to the default Web Header if left empty. The template also permits its user to add a website icon (aka Favicon).
The template automatically creates menus when you add pages or links in the Layout screen. It also has a ready-made search bar for site searching. Widgets can be added to the left side, above and below the posts, and on the footer.
Meta descriptions can be added to posts. The title of the blog switches when you navigate, matching the title of the post or page.
Structure
It uses the classic 780px width framework. This use to be the standard width back then. Unfortunately, being a classic, this blogger template is non-responsive.
It has 2 columns. One for the post feed and one for the sidebars or widgets.
SEO
The template is optimized for Search Engines. Users can add meta descriptions to their posts using Labels. The blog title automatically changes to match the post or page title then adds the Site name into it. Both functions aid in Search Engine optimization as it helps generate unique Page Titles and meta descriptions for the search engines to nicely pick up.
Summary
- Web Header or Web Logo can be changed. If there is no Web Header, it will automatically display the default header banner that came along with this template.
