Claymore is a dark fantasy, adventure manga series written and illustrated by Norihiro Yagi. The series is set on a fictional medieval island where humans are plagued by human-feeding humanoid monsters called Yomas. A mysterious group, known as The Organization, creates half-human, half-Yoma hybrids to kill Yoma for a price. These female warriors were called “Claymores” alluding to their Claymore great swords, or “Silver-eyed Witches”, because they possess silver eyes.
Claymores and Yoma alike are powered by demonic energy called Yoki, which increases their strength, speed, agility, endurance, and allows them to shape-shift. For the Claymores, they remain in human form and has no urge to devour human innards, however, when they release too much Yoki, they awaken and become a Super-Yoma called Awakened Beings.
The continent they belong to is divided into 47 districts, with one Claymore warrior assigned to each. The Claymores are ranked 1 through 47, with the lowest number being the most superior of them all. Usually, the stronger Claymores have some special skills that are unique to the character, may this be a sword technique, fighting style, or Yoki ability.
The series initially premiered in the now defunct Monthly Shōnen Jump May 2001 issue, but was moved to one of their sister magazines as the content was deemed too adult for the target audience. When the magazine was canceled in June 2007, the series was temporarily moved to Weekly Shōnen Jump where it was published monthly. When Jump Square was introduced in November 2007, Claymore was yet moved into it. The individual chapters were published in tankōbon volumes by Shueisha, with 27 volumes released between January 2002 and December 2014. Madhouse would later adapt the first eleven volumes of the series into a twenty-six episode anime series. The series premiered in Japan on NTV in April 2007 and ran until September 2007.
How to watch Claymore for Free
You can always buy the CD to watch the anime, but if you want to watch it for free then Google can be your friend. Of course, to name a few sites that hosts them, there’s Crunchyroll and YouTube. On Google, you can use several simple keywords such as “watch claymore anime for free” or “watch claymore for free”, although adding anime to the keyword improves your chances of finding the right one as the keyword Claymore can be broad and would usually send you into websites that are about swords rather than the anime.
In this post, I did the homework for you guys and compiled all the anime episodes both in Japanese and English version. The Japanese version has the English subtitle.
The anime series was rather short-lived. It seems that it was only aired in order to promote the manga version. There are some unpublished scenes from the Manga that were not included in the anime. The anime only spans up until Priscilla’s defeat in the north, but the manga covers up until Priscilla’s death. I might add how to read the manga version here in my blog in the future.

Crunchyroll requires Flash player to work.
Heads up, CR no longer has it and the English YouTube version has the poster’s account terminated due to copyright violations.
